“Carbon farming isn’t just better for crops — it helps restore our environment.”
Back in 2020, Jolanta, together with InSoil, began transitioning her 640-hectare farm to regenerative farming by implementing crop rotation practices, residue management, low soil disturbance tilling and reduction of synthetic fertilisers
“Carbon farming isn’t just better for crops—it helps restore our environment and purify the air we all share. We’re a green nation that proudly values nature.” Jolanta Greinienė, Lithuanian farmer
I left the Vilnius 11 years ago, traded my high heels for rubber boots, and joined my husband on our farm. What started as 40 hectares has grown into 1,500. We focus on winter crops — wheat, barley, rapeseed— and are always experimenting with sustainable practices to keep our soil healthy.
As an accountant-turned-farmer, I treat farming as both a business and a responsibility. Reducing mineral fertilisers, using cover crops, and improving soil health are central to our work. We aim for higher yields by building better soil — not just playing it safe.
I discovered InSoil when I needed alternatives to traditional bank financing. From day one, the process was smooth and personal. With their support, we’ve bought land, built infrastructure, and joined the Carbon Farming Programme, which we’ve been a part of for nearly four years. Regular soil testing and expert advice confirm we’re on the right track.
Farming takes patience, strength, and long-term vision. I want to see Lithuanian farms passed down with pride, thriving across generations. With partners like InSoil, that dream feels possible.
