Piotr has been running his farm in the Kisielice municipality since 2011. From the beginning, he was interested in no-till practices and regenerative agriculture — even though stepping away from traditional ploughing took courage, patience, and some new investments.

“At first, it was scary. Ploughing was always part of tradition — passed down for generations. But over time, we saw that it really works,” Piotr explains. The benefits? Improved soil moisture, greater fertility, and increased yields — even while reducing nitrogen fertiliser use by as much as 50–60 kg/ha.

With the support of InSoil advisors and participation in the Carbon Farming Programme, Piotr’s farm introduced cover crops and green manures that feed the soil and support biological life, all while reducing fertilisation and fuel costs. “Straw isn’t enough. Legumes and camelina give the soil what it truly needs.”

Though they started with a basic disc harrow, today their machinery is more advanced — and the results speak for themselves: average winter wheat yields of 9.3 t/ha on class IV–V soils.

“Working with InSoil is more than just financing. It’s support that gives us confidence we’re heading in the right direction.”
