2026-04-26, Vilnius, Lithuania / InSoil, a leader in Europe’s transition to regenerative agriculture, has officially achieved Verra registration for its flagship soil carbon program in Lithuania. This milestone validates that the project adheres to the rigorous integrity standards of the Verra framework. More than 130 thousand Verified Carbon Units (VCUs) will be issued this year as a result of the first monitoring period. These environmental attributes will support organizations committed to achieving their net-zero goals.
“This is a pivotal moment for the project. Securing this registration marks the end of our initial development phase and the beginning of our commercialization phase. This shift is vital; it paves the way for us to bring these high-integrity credits to market, which in turn enables us to initiate the direct payments that recognize and reward our farmers for their vital stewardship of the land and their ongoing climate action,” mentioned Laimonas Noreika, founder and CEO of InSoil.
By adhering to stringent verification standards like the Verra VM0042 methodology, the program ensures that every ton of carbon stored is traceable and credible. This makes it an essential tool for entities aiming to fulfill their climate goals while simultaneously securing the long-term productivity and sustainability of the European food supply chain.
“We are proud to be the first large-scale, country-specific carbon farming program in Europe to achieve Verra registration. This distinction makes it a premier choice for organizations seeking high-integrity, verified solutions to meet their environmental targets,” says Fernando Hierro Garcia, Head of Carbon at InSoil.
InSoil’s carbon farming programs serve as a vital bridge between environmental stewardship and economic viability for European agriculture. By incentivizing regenerative practices, such as reduced tillage and cover cropping, these programs transform farmland into powerful carbon sinks that help mitigate climate change through verified sequestration.
To support this transition, InSoil acts as an end-to-end enabler of regenerative agriculture. Operating as a one-stop shop for farmers, InSoil removes the operational, technical, and financial barriers to adoption. From initial outreach and program enrollment to the issuance and monetization of environmental attributes, InSoil manages the entire lifecycle. This empowers farmers with a dual benefit: the restoration of soil health and interdependent ecosystem services, coupled with a new, reliable revenue stream from high-integrity carbon credits.
Last year, InSoil celebrated a partnership with Anew Climate, LLC, a global leader in environmental markets, that provides the latter with exclusive access to commercialize over 500 thousand Verified Carbon Units from this project.
